鸟取县处于日本的中国地区。 县人口仅有约五十八万四千人， 是全日本人口最少的县市。鸟取县以农业为主要的经济来源，种植的果菜在日本到处可见。县首都为鸟取市， 市人口约二十万人。在鸟取市内可以看见许多明治时代的西式建筑， 让整个城市有欧洲的感觉。日本最大的沙丘， 鸟取沙丘也在鸟取市内。鸟取县的境港市也是个出名的渔港，扑捉丰盛的金枪鱼和螃蟹。在港湾的沙滩有设漂亮的走道，也可以看到许多妖怪的雕像。
