The description

A delicious dango, a traditional sweet dessert made of Japanese sticky rice balls on a stick. At Kurazukuri Hompo they are designed to look like a panda.

The good

Ever since they came out, I've been eyeing these panda design dango (for takeout) at Kurazukuri Hompo on the main tourist fare of Kawagoe. I finally indulged earlier in the week and I wasn't disappointed. Honestly, its one of the best dango I've had in a while. They are just the right amount of sweet. The best bit was that on the inside there is red bean paste. I didn't expect that and it really added to both the flavor and the texture. I highly recommend buying these on a trip to Kawagoe's old town. They only cost 150 yen.

The not so good

The downside of this delicious dango is that it small. Most dango have at least three balls of sweet sticky rice, but the panda dango from Kurazukuri Hompo only have two balls of rice on them. No doubt so they could make them look like panda! Two was not enough and had I known in the beginning that I wouldn't be satiated with one, I'd have bought another! By the time I'd realized, we'd walked on and instead I tried some other street food, but it wasn't as good as the panda dango! The other downside: its only available at branches of Kurazukuri Hompo and possibly not all branches.
