Excellent Hospital Service
I’ve had the opportunity to visit Tokyo Metropolitan Tama children’s Medical Center on three occasions - two to the ER department for children and once for a follow-up visit.
Any occasion to visit ER is obviously not a social matter - especially with an ill toddler, but I truly salute the staff at the Tokyo Metropolitan Tama children’s Medical Center for their friendliness, professionalism and willingness to ensure that everyone, especially foreigners, are well taken care of.
On my first visit, I got to the ER almost at midnight. The gentleman at the service counter asked for my son’s "boshi techo," health insurance and hospital card. Upon presenting these a hospital card was generated. While on the go for triage with the attending nurse I was able to complete the registration form.
The time between the nurse’s examination and being seen by the doctor was very quick.
I was literally in and out of the hospital with a thorough check and medication in less than an hour.
Follow-up visits to the Tokyo Metropolitan Tama children’s Medical Center were even better. Having the hospital card shortened the registration time and perhaps because I’m a foreigner (black) it was easy to recognize me quickly the second time around - and everyone made an effort to communicate with me in as much English as possible. It almost felt as if it was not a hospital.
Additionally, the layout and aesthetics of the hospital are very appealing. The hospital mall, with its "inside-outside" open sitting area, restaurant, convenience store, ATM machines, dry cleaners, laundromat and the bus areas opposite the parking lot, all make the facility very user friendly.
I highly recommend this hospital to anyone within the surrounding area. The staff go the extra mile to ensure that all individuals are properly catered to.
Just remember when you visit the Tokyo Metropolitan Tama children’s Medical Center to have all medical documents on hand to ensure speedy processing. Also, check to ensure that health and hospital cards have not expired or you will have to pay the full cost of the medical bill.
