Halloween Afternoon tea at Café Eve in Kichijouji

Café Eve that is situated north of Kichijouji station recently started serving cute afternoon tea sets with changing themes. Currently you can get a Halloween-themed afternoon tea set. It is priced at 4,000 yen per person and needs to be reserved in advance at a minimum of 2 persons.

I tried the menu recently and would like to share my experience.

When you are shown to your seat the afternoon tea is already placed there so you won’t have to wait for the food. The afternoon tea comes with all you can drink for coffee and tea. Fitting for the Halloween theme you can get purple tea. Additionally you can also order a special Halloween drink. But that comes at an extra price.

The afternoon tea set consists of several cookies, pieces of cake and a small plate with savory dishes. All are decorated in a Halloween style looking like pumpkins and little monsters.

The savory dishes are a star-shaped toast with a meatball on top and a pumpkin soup. On the sweet side you can find macaroons, green tea cake, cheesecake, chocolate roll cake and icing cookies that look like stars. I particularly liked the cheese cake.

On the photos you can see the amount for two people. It is quite a lot so you might want to go easy on lunch if you plan to get a tea set in the afternoon.

The tea set portrays the Halloween spirit very nicely and if you combine it with the purple tea or the Halloween special drink it is a perfect combination.

The cafe itself is not decorated for Halloween which was a little disappointing.

I think the price of 4,000 yen is quite high for the amount of food you get. For example the Alice in Wonderland Café in Ikebukuro offers a Halloween buffet with sweets and light snacks where you can eat as much as you want for 2 hours and can choose from 30 different foods at only 3,500 yen.

If you don't mind the price the afternoon tea set can be a nice way to celebrate Halloween. It will be available until the end of October. After that I assume a different themed afternoon tea set will be available. You can check their Instagram for information on the newest menu.

As the cafe is quite small and does not have many seats you might want to reserve a few days in advance.
