Green tea and Makinohara's delicious goodies

I was very lucky to receive some delicious goodies from Makinohara! I have never been to Makinohara before, however some friends of mine had been there and told me that it's a beautiful place well-known for producing green tea! I love tea so much. I have more than 20 different types of teas and home, so I was very excited to try the goodies from Makinohara.

Makinohara is located in Shizuoka prefecture. Shizuoka produces 40% of Japan's tea! Makinohara has a lot of large green tea plantations and many fields. It also has some beautiful beaches such as Shizunami Beach, which overlooks Mt. Fuji. The pictures online truly look stunning, and I want to go there before my husband and I leave Japan.

Firstly, when I received the parcel, I was so impressed with how beautiful the packing of the boxes looked. I was so excited to try it! The Nanaya Shizuoka Matcha Leaf Pie came in a beautiful big box with 8 pies. As I received a lot, I let my friend and husband try the leaf pies too.

The leaf pies were very sweet and the pastry was nice and flaky. It tasted a lot like the unagi pies which you can also get in Shizuoka. I guess Shizuoka is famous for these style of pies. The leaf pies were really delicious and you can't taste the bitterness that matcha has. Some people don't like matcha because of how bitter is can be. This pie is sweet, so if you're worried about eating matcha that's bitter, you won't be any of that taste.

I was thinking about how to use the Shizuoka Matcha Syrup. This Japanese-style syrup comes in a bottle and it is a matcha flavoured syrup. You can use it on many sweets such as anmitsu or pancakes. I decided to use it on ice-cream! I tried it with vanilla ice-cream and matcha ice-cream. On both vanilla and matcha ice cream, this syrup is AMAZING! My friends and I thought that the matcha ice-cream was the best for this syrup, but the vanilla ice-cream was great, too.

My husband tried to make a face on this ice-cream, but his art skills aren't great haha!

We also used the leaf pie on the ice-cream as decoration, however it was a little big so it didn't look so good in the picture. My friend loved the leaf pie and she ate it up really fast!

Finally, I was sent the Shizuoka Makinohara Sencha Tea Bags! The tea was really good too. I made the mistake of using too little water, so the tea was a little too strong and bitter for me the first time. The next time, I used a bigger cup, which made the tea much better and easier to drink! I liked that the tea came in tea bags, so it doesn't take time to prepare. It's especially helpful for people like me who are always working and busy. Sometimes, I'll skip drinking tea in the morning because it's ものぐさい (bothersome) to make if it isn't in tea bags. The tea was really good, so I'd buy it again in the future.

Thank you so much to City-Cost for letting me review these delicious products from Makinohara. I'm going to go there next time. It's on my bucket list!
