EXPENSIVE Soy Sauce vs. Cheap Soy Sauce

When you see that a 1.5 L bottle of soy sauce is around 300 yen at the supermarket (or cheaper), you would question who would get a 1300 yen bottle of soy sauce in a glass bottle instead.

We did that, and there are good reasons to do that.

One reason is that these expensive soy sauces use higher quality soy beans so the soy sauce tastes less artifical.

The other reason is that these soy sauce are usually quite rich in flavour, so we end up using much less to get the same flavour when cooking. A bottle like this can last us a LONG time, so we think the price actually balances out.
