End of the School Year: A Heartfelt Goodbye

I never thought I would feel so special at the end of the school year. Honestly, I didn’t expect anything from my two schools, but both the students and teachers were incredibly sweet.

The students gave me letters filled with their drawings, and their messages really touched my heart. Then, all my JTEs surprised me with a present and a bouquet of flowers. I wasn’t expecting any of it, and it made me realize how much I had grown to love these schools.

As an ALT in Japan for the first year, everything was a challenge—a complete rollercoaster ride. But my schools and the people I worked with were a breath of fresh air. I remember how nervous I was at first, but the teachers welcomed me with warm smiles, making me feel at home.

Before the farewell party, one of my JTEs asked if I would be staying at the same school. Unfortunately, I had to tell them that I was assigned to another school. It was bittersweet, knowing I wouldn’t be seeing these familiar faces every day.

Still, I will forever cherish the memories I made at both of my schools. The kindness, the laughter, and the bonds I formed—these will stay with me no matter where I go.
