mentos: Mix On The Beach

To be honest, if I'm on one of Japan's beaches during the appalling heat of summer in this country, then I'm probably looking for a little more refreshment than any flavor of mentos can provide, even if it is a "mix on the beach."

I have, however, become bored over the last few months with sucking (and then chewing) on mentos-in-Japan staples "grape" and "fresh cola," which are an ever-present in the nation's convenience stores.

As I understand things, mint is one of, if not THE, origin flavors of mentos and I've noticed packets of mint appearing, once again, on the shelves in recent months.  While some of Japan's mint and chocolate combos have turned up pleasant surprises during this country's "mint" boom, for the most part I like to keep my mint for toothpaste and gum.

It was nice then to find my local Lawson selling these mentos Mix On The Beach flavors that comprise passion fruit and mango, banana and strawberry, and lime and lemon.  And they all taste good (especially after having become nauseatingly bored with grape and cola).

(mentos Mix On The Beach covers three flavors)

For my sins this is the first I've seen of mentos Mix On The Beach and there appears to be no mention of them on the Japanese mentos homepage.  The most cursory of searches on the internet revealed some chatter from the U.K. that mentos Mix On The Beach dropped on those shores in 2017.

Anyway, they're in my local Lawson, for the time being, and I'm happy for the variety.
