Noda City Eats
Historic Noda City street view
The Kanto region suburb where I live, Noda City, has lots of great places to eat, which have been reviewed here on City Cost.
During the ongoing pandemic, restaurant owners in our city have rallied to provide take out and delivery.
When we residents run out of energy to cook, we've got so many great places to rely on for take out and delivery. Here are some of our favorites.
Bistro Food
Hanmer is one of our favorite bistros, just outside Kawama Station's north exit. Their signature dish is omuraisu, a curried rice dish that appeals to the adult palate. Hanmer also has a wide selection of wines, and serves daily special light dishes.
Cafe and Dining Toshi has Italian-inspired dishes for lunch and dinner, and provides takeout.
Local Favorite Izakaya
Tomoyoshi just outside Kawama Station's south exit is a classic izakaya that serves seasonal ingredients in creative dishes.
A Maido favorite, yakigyoza
Right outside Atago Station is Maido, one of our favorite izakaya. Among the many favorite choices here are pizza and fried chicken.
Chinese Food
For Japanese-style Chinese food, we rely on Koba, a casual eatery just outside Atago Station. Eats are cheap and filling.
Chukadon set at Narikyu
After a day of adventure at Shimizu Park, many people grab a bite at Narikyu, the Japanese-Chinese food restaurant between the station and the park.
If you're in the mood for authentic Chinese food, we've got a few places. Try Fuku outside Kawama Station's north exit, or Gensho, just south of Atago Station.
Bakeries
Near Kawama Station is Chou Chou Boulangerie, a popular bakery that turns out gorgeous loaves of bread in various styles, pastries, and sandwiches.
More central in Noda is Straw which produces delicious loaves on order, and pastries to go. Go early before they sell out their most popular confections.
Next to Kikkoman headquarters on Nagareyama Kaido drop by the antique house. At the back of the garden is a tiny bakery, Chocotto open from Thursday to Saturday.
International Food
Indian restaurants continue to proliferate in Japan, and we've got a few. They're a great choice for vegans and vegetarians. Staff can help you choose meat-free dishes.
On Route 16, you'll find Good Friend, an international restaurant that offers Indian and Thai food. Try their fusion dishes such as tom yum ramen and Thai ramen. The staff speaks English. This restaurant also offers vegetarian options.
Classic Ramen
For old-school ramen, try Bonraku just south of Kawama Station. This ramen shop has just updated its dining area so it's spacious and bright.
Shizu, recently relocated to a new building in front of Nodashi Station, has ramen, gyoza, and donburi featuring Kikkoman moromi miso.
