The description

This Canadian Whisky Highball is available in 350 and 500 ml aluminum cans at 7-11 convenience stores. It's a simple drink made with 100% Canadian whisky and soda.

The good

Harwood Candian Whisky Highball is a treat. Kokubu which produces and distributes this drink in Japan, named it after Harwood, Ontario. It's a region known for its natural beauty. The label is simple with an image of a Canada goose. The ready-to-drink highball is made with corn, rye, and malt. As indicated on the label, the whisky is aged in oak barrels for three years. The aging imparts the oak aroma. The whisky has notes of vanilla, caramel, nuts, and honey. It's 8% alcohol but the booziness doesn't obscure the sweet, rich flavors. It's also simply mixed with carbonated water. This is smooth, a nice slow sip, and pairs well with sushi and nabe hot pot.

The not so good

This drink, Harwood Candian Whisky Highball , doesn't disappoint. It has a complex flavor enhanced by the carbonated water. It's a decent price, too, and accessible at 7-11 convenience stores. As a Canadian, I'm alarmed by the economic and soverienty threats posed by the current US administration. Many Canadians in country and abroad are pushing back by buying Canadian products as much as they can. To support the country of my birth, I'm keeping my eyes peeled for Canadian products in retail stores in Japan. Fellow Canadians and fans of Canada can support Canada's products and services by buying from the "true north strong and free".
