My local bean paste pastry fix
I keep my eye out for Vie de France bakery cafes when I am in or around train stations. There is one thing i’m looking for - red bean paste and cream buns with the district name grilled on them.
This past weekend, while visiting the Kanamachi area, I dropped by the bakery between the JR and Keisei stations.
They had what I was after!
They’re not too sweet, and the combination of the pastry, cream and bean paste filling makes a great snack.
I’ve found them at various stations on the Joban local line, at Mabashi, Kitasenju and a few other places that I frequently visit. They’re not always available. Perhaps they sell out?
Does anybody else hunt for these when they’re traveling or commuting? Are they at all of the cafe locations?

This is a new one for me -- "the district name grilled on them." All these years in the country and the red bean paste has yet to grow on me, except maybe in taiyaki.
