These fans are delicate things. When I purchased a few at Biwa Club, the road station in Minamiboso City, the staff member cautioned me not to crush it in a bag. She told me to carry it in my hand or loosely wrapped. I had a furoshiki handy to carry them. The fans are quite sturdy, but you should be careful about humidity and exposing them to strong sunlight, as they will fade. And be sure not to crush them! Unlike sensu folding fans, Boshu uchiwa are not easily portable. You might want to place one at your desk at work or display a few as wall decor.
