Plague Diary 10 Government help, and helping community
This is going to smart. Maybe it already does for you. Friends and former colleagues are telling me that their sources of income are in jeopardy, and some are facing relocation for cost savings and social distancing reasons. Local business leaders and small business owners in my community are already feeling the effects of the now nationwide state of emergency, which is in effect until at least May 6th.
By now, you know that the government is preparing to provide 100,000 yen cash handouts to all residents (anyone with a My Number), and sending a paltry two cloth masks in the post. Well, better than nothing.
My friends and neighbors are restaurant owners, shop owners and we need them to survive until we can get back to work, and back to business. Everybody has to eat.
In my part of Chiba Prefecture, chambers of commerce and NPOs are initiating projects to support local business. Kashiwa now has a campaign running until early May to fund restaurants.
Asuchike, "tomorow ticket" is a project to ask restaurant patrons who frequent Kashiwa eateries to buy tickets in advance.
Noda City is doing much the same with their Noda Shoku Supo project.
Many of our favorite eateries in these two cities have also moved to take away for lunch and dinner.
Is your community doing campaigns like this? Are you taking advantage of local places now doing take away?
