In February 2025, 7-11 convenience stores teams up with the Korea Tourism Organization. The line of products includes onigiri and bento box lunches. Previously, I tried the Korean bento box with chijimi, namul, kimbap, and yangnyeom chicken. This time it's a jumeokbap, a rice ball with sesame flavoring and six ingredients - takuan, tuna, sesame seeds, green onions, flying fish roe, and seaweed. It's not just flavorful with the tangy takuan pickles and umami fish and seasonings. It's also got a lot of crunchy and soft textures.

This was my first taste of the Korean answer to rice balls, jumeok-bap, and it was delicious. The package is kind of fun with it's neon logo and the distinctive Korean Menu sticker. These days, the price of convenience store onigiri is rising. This rice ball is priced about the same as some of the premium onigiri that 7-11 regularly carries. There's no indication on 7-11's promotion website whether the Korean Tourism Organization's tie-up is time limited. I hope these flavorful products become regular in the line-up.
