Abundant spring blooms in April
Back in 2023, we wrote spot reports in spring and autumn highlighting seasonal beauty. The spring spot reports asked us to share cherry blossom locations and statuses. Cherry blossoms are an awesome sight, of course, but the blossom period is fleeting. So, here’s a spot report about a profusion of spring blossoms in Noda City.
A few weeks ago, the cherry blossoms were stunning. They didn’t last long, and by April 9th, a lot of the trees were already starting to get leafy. But the end of the early-blooming cherries became a backdrop to ハナミズキ hanamizuki, dogwood, lining many streets in Noda City. The dogwoods, imported from the eastern U.S. They resemble the Pacific Dogwood trees from Canada’s west coast, where I’m from. The flowers of Cornus florida vary from vibrant to pale pink, faintly yellow to white. They bloom right after the cherry trees.
On April 20th, I sped around the neighbourhood on my bicycle and had a gander at Shimizu Park’s flowers. Today, ボタン peonies, are in full flower in front of Konjoin Temple.
From April 19th to May 6th, Shimizu Park celebrates azaleas. There are hundreds of varieties in bloom in the azalea groves.
On the western edge of the park, some late-blooming double cherry trees are still going strong.
In your region, are cherry trees still blooming? How about dogwoods, azaleas, and peonies?
