My respect for Daiso

My respect for Daiso photo

My husband often makes fun of the fact that I shop at Daiso so often. He likes to try and say that I’m poor. While he isn’t wrong I think that even if I had a lot of money I would still shop at Daiso. And other 100 yen shops. There are just certain items where the quality doesn’t match the price in such a good way. The quality far exceeds what you would expect a hundred yen to pay for. One example is this toy that I bought for my son for Christmas. It’s a little ball that whenever you toss it onto the magnetic coins it comes with a transforms into a dragon like creature. I’m sure the people familiar with it know the name of it but I forgot. Normally you would see a tiny little plastic item like this being charged nearly1500yen. That’s so much money for a child’s toy. I’m very grateful for Daiso another 100 yen stores for allowing families with lower incomes to still entertain and thrill their children with what is essentially just a little piece of plastic.

Mind you I realize that the low price probably also comes with some sketchy business on the manufacturing side. It also means it’s more likely for people to just buy and toss out more and more things because they’re so cheap. It’s a double edge sword. But for now I’m just happy I can make my son so happy for just ¥100.
