Things I'm grateful for during winter in Japan: snow ploughs
I mentioned before that we're fortunate to have a network of road sprinklers out here in snow country, and they pump up groundwater that does a good job of keeping most roads clear to drive on. Not every road has those, though, and it's part of why I am grateful for snow ploughs during the winter season.
I can only imagine how isolating it would be for some folks if their streets were completely snowed in. Along with big snow ploughs that operate on the roads, I've also seen mini snow plough versions that help to keep the sidewalks functional. I appreciate all of the public infrastructure that assists in maintaining normal life out here in snow country even when it's really coming down outside.
