Place of purchase: Muji

The description

This product is a packet of toothpaste tablets in a lemon flavor from Muji. You get 20 toothpaste tablets in the pack, and it was priced at 490 yen including tax.

The good

I've purchased toothpaste tablets before from Lush, but these ones from Muji were a fairly recent purchase. They are a lemon flavored option (really nice if you're looking for something other than default minty flavored toothpastes), and I think they're very helpful if you're traveling since they're a non liquidy option and easier to pack. They're super easy to use, too -- you just crunch up one of the tablets in your mouth until it becomes frothy and paste-like, and then brush like normal. You can also use these in place of mouthwash, so they're a bit of a two-in-one product!

The not so good

20 toothpaste tablets for nearly 500 yen is fairly expensive on a per-use basis, and I wish these were less expensive because they are meant to be an option that is better for the environment. Also, the packaging is a plastic foil style zip lock bag, and I think for a product that is meant to be better for the environment it would be nice to see a reusable option for packaging (e.g. a metal tin or similar). Overall I like these for when I am away from home since I feel like they're easier to pack than a standard toothpaste tube, but I think the product has room for improvement.
