Friendly reminder: azaleas are toxic to pets!

With azalea season among us, I just wanted to put out a little reminder for anyone who might not be aware – azaleas are toxic to cats and dogs! They contain a poison called grayanotoxin, and it's found in the pollen, leaves, and flowers of the plant. Even ingesting a small amount can be really dangerous for your furry friends, and it was something I only found out about fairly recently.

Although the flowers are beautiful, the entire plant is toxic to dogs and cats - including the pollen.

The flowers are one of my springtime favorites, and I often see them used as hedge bushes in certain areas. If you're out walking your dog, just be mindful that they don't get too close or start chewing on anything!
