World Introvert Day (and the ease of being an introvert in Japan)

Did you know that today, January 2nd, is World Introvert Day? I saw it earlier as I was reading the news online, and it got me thinking about the relative ease of being an introvert here in Japan.

For instance, there are so many places to go and eat that are really geared towards solo diners, like the super popular Ichiran chain with its individual booths and paper menus where you just circle what you want and pass it to the employee. Other places allow you to order via vending machines or touchscreens — I find this to be a big relief on the days that I just don't have small talk in me.

I also feel like there are a lot more activities that are solo-geared here, but maybe I've just noticed them more as my introversion has become more noticeable. Even out here in the countryside there are loads of museums, gardens, and more that are perfect for appreciating alone.

A variety of lists online also mention Japan as one of the world's most introvert-friendly countries.

Are you an introvert or an extrovert? If you're introverted, do you find it's easier to be introverted here than your home country?
