Autumn leaves forecast released!

As we head into the autumn season, something that is likely on everyone's radar is when we get to enjoy the changing leaves. The JMC (Japan Meteorological Corporation) released their autumn leaf projections earlier this week, and it's set to be a little later than usual given the warm weather we've been experiencing.

The projections and infographics can be found here, but if you're in Tokyo you can expect around November 26th for yellow leaves, and December 1st for red leaves (there are separate projections listed for both types). Other cities are listed on the website if you're trying to estimate a region closer to where you live! Also, it's important to keep in mind that the dates can change a bit – I typically find that the JMC updates their site a few times before the actual season – so just factor that in to any plans you're making!

Do you have a preference between autumn's yellow or red leaves? I personally can't pick a favorite!

The ginkgo are a wonder when they turn golden. Near me - Kasukabe City's Hachiman Shrine has ginkgo trees that were grown from cuttings or saplings from Kamakura's Tsurugaoka Hachimangu shrine ginkgo trees (one of which was felled by a typhoon some years ago). The Kasukabe trees shimmer in autumn!
