Golden Week at Echigo Hillside Park

We try to stay local (as much as possible) during Golden Week, but I did want to check out a few of my favorite spring flower destinations over the break, including Echigo Hillside Park in Nagaoka – about a 40 minute drive away. The massive park has a lot of floral beauty throughout the year, including a ton of colorful tulips at the moment.

They also have a few cute photo prop style areas where you can take some fun snaps, like this door!

One thing that took me by surprise, though, was just how many people had the same idea. I know it's Golden Week, but I think this is the busiest I've ever seen the park – there were actually lines to get admission tickets. Usually you can walk straight up!

The lines were crazy, but once you were in the park it didn't seem so bad.

I'm glad I got to see the flowers, but I wouldn't recommend going at this time of year again!
