On simplifying your life in Japan

BigFamJapan posed a great question in the Q&A section of the site recently, wondering about apps where you can consolidate all your point cards in the one place rather than having to carry around each physical card.

On simplifying your life in Japan photo

It got me thinking about ways that I've tried to simplify my life in Japan. One of the main ones that came to mind was that I haven't owned a printer in years and years, because any time I need to print a document (or photos) I just head to 7-11 and use their printing service. It simplifies my life in a number of ways – first, I don't need to worry about a big ol' printer taking up space. I don't need to have supplies on hand like ink, toner, and paper, and I don't need to consider things like the expense of repairs if a home printer goes kaput. Also, the fact that 7-11 is open 24/7 means even if it's late at night or super early in the morning, I can pop in and get my printing done.

Are there ways that you've simplified your life in Japan? Maybe it's something that you don't keep in your house anymore because you've found an alternative here (like my printer situation!) that works for your needs. Maybe it's outsourcing something like grocery shopping using home delivery services like Co-Op or even Amazon Pantry. Maybe your bill payments are automated instead of having to take your slips into the convenience store to pay.

I'd love to hear about ways you've simplified your own life here so that I can get some inspiration on how to better simplify mine!
