Without spoiling the storyline of the game, Pokemon Violet is the better choice if you (or the game recipient) likes futuristic things. This game came with the holiday gift bag as pictured, so it was ready to go for Christmas - it's also a nice way to store the game and any other accessories. It's a fabric gift bag too, so you can absolutely reuse it to gift something again! Unlike in other Pokemon installments, there is a bigger difference in gameplay between Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, so both are fun to have in your gaming repertoire.

From a price perspective this is definitely a more expensive game than many others in the Switch lineup, coming in at just over 9000 yen. That does come with the bonus content and the gift bag, though, so there's a bit more on offer with it than some other games out there. Overall, the Pokemon fans in our household give this a two thumbs up, and even though it's a new addition to our gaming lineup (another Christmas present!) it has already been providing plenty of entertainment. If you want to splurge on a game for a special occasion (Christmas/birthday/etc.) then this would be a good option!
