The description

This product is a Starbucks Chestnut and Cassis Frappuccino, and it's a new release for the autumn season. It comes in one size only (tall) and is priced at 660 yen including tax.

The good

You have to hand it to Starbucks -- they're always coming up with new and inventive seasonal frap flavors, and they've done it again with this chestnut and cassis flavored one. It contains a chestnut sauce, milk, a small amount of coffee, and cassis sauce, and garnished with whipped cream and crushed chestnuts. They always do a good job of making the fraps look aesthetically pleasing. The chestnut flavor to me is definitely fall themed, and it was nice seeing them create a drink using it as the central focus point. The cassis sauce adds a nice fruity punch to the beverage, and I thought although they were quite contrasting flavors that they still worked together. It surprised me a little!

The not so good

There's no denying it -- this is an expensive drink. At 660 yen there are various other more cost-effective ways to get a frappuccino fix, such as checking out some of the convenience store options. Even when I really like the seasonal frap offerings, I don't get them more than once because of the sticker price. It's also only available in one size, which can be frustrating if you'd prefer a smaller size. I wish they did short size frappuccinos so you could still get your frap fix at a cheaper price point. I also didn't really see the cassis sauce as a fall thing, but maybe that's just me. Other than that, it's a unique frap flavor that gives a hint of the fall season -- give it a try if it sounds appealing to you!
