Federal election voting for Aussies in Japan

If you're an Australian living here in Japan and you're still on the electoral roll, both in-person and postal vote drop offs can be done at the Australian Embassy in Azabujuban (Tokyo) and at the Osaka Consulate for the upcoming federal election.

They were available yesterday and today, but going forward the dates are from 28 April to 3 May from 9.30am until 4.30pm in Tokyo-- I'm not sure about the Osaka consulate hours but I imagine they are the same. The embassy advises that queues are likely to be longer first thing in the morning and during typical lunch hours, so if you can avoid those hours I'd recommend it. You need your passport to enter the embassy grounds, but you don't need photo ID to vote--they'll just check you off the electoral roll like what would happen in Australia.

Postal votes can be dropped off at the guard box.

If you've never been to the embassy before, the address is 2 Chome-1-14 Mita, Minato City, Tokyo 108-8361.
