Aeon set to hire more foreign workers

Got any friends or family wanting to move to Japan with specific skills in the cleaning or food processing fields? The supermarket chain AEON is set to hire somewhere around 4000 new employees from overseas under a new initiative, where they will also be provided with share house style accommodation to make the transition easier. Apparently, the organizers of this program are also looking at things like tours of local areas on weekends for employees, providing a real immersive experience.

The article didn't mention whether or not Japanese language capability is going to be a requirement for employment, but I'm assuming based on the job roles that it wouldn't be an absolute must. I think it's encouraging that they are really looking at ways to fill gaps in employment industries that are struggling to find staff domestically – I just do hope that it doesn't end up in any exploitative practices.

Do you think that initiatives like providing share house accommodation or even weekend tours would help incentivize people into service industry roles here in Japan?
