Spring in snow country: not always beautiful
Spring in Japan is often associated with all things cherry blossoms, and a bounty of other blooms like tulips, azaleas, and the like. The reality out here in snow country is a lot less polished sometimes--of course, we have plenty of those beautiful blooms, too, but sights that I've seen way more often in recent weeks look more like the photo below.
Soggy, muddy landscapes with patches of dirty ice, flattened grass, deep tire tracks in rice fields from last year's autumn harvest, and puddles. Probably not the image a lot of people have in mind when they think of pretty pink sakura and the like.
So no, spring in snow country isn't always beautiful, but it's unique in its own way!
Does your local area have any "non-Insta-worthy" views during spring (or any other time of year, quite frankly)?

Good question. I feel like there is something that I can't recall!! Wracking my brain trying to remember!
