A fun exhibition to check out in Nagaoka
Something I love about living in Niigata is the abundance of great museums here, and one of them is the Niigata Prefectural Museum of Modern Art in Nagaoka. Up until September 25th the museum is hosting an exhibition titled Animals in Nagaoka, and it's centered around the works of sculptor Atsuhiko Misawa.
The exhibition has been making its way around Japan, featuring in larger cities like Tokyo and Osaka in the past – and I was really glad when I saw it was making its way out here.
Misawa's sculptures have a really distinct style, and still manage to be cute and whimsical at the same time.
The exhibition only runs until September 25th in Nagaoka, so if you're in the area I highly recommend checking it out before it wraps up! More details about the exhibition can be found on the official museum website – adult admission is ¥1400.
