More Reason to Not Support Amazon

More Reason to Not Support Amazon photo

In light of recent American election news, I'm even less eager to support the big corporations who support the next president-elect. I hate the fact that they support him to be even more greedy and accept further tax cuts while they refuse to follow fair trade laws. I disliked Amazon to begin with, for various reasons, but mostly because they are not a good employeer.

Then Amazon Japan got in trouble with the Fair Trade Commision yet again.

They keep making excuses and finding loopholes.

This time it's the requirement to keep lower prices on their platform in order to even have a buy button on the sale page. This violates antitrust laws.

Amazon has more than a quarter of the online sales in Japan. I know this platform uses Amazon credit to "pay" contributors. I have not been very active here for that very reason. I really want to be for the community of like minded people, but I am apparently collecting credit that I don't really want to use.

I'm going to compare prices between Amazon and a company in the area who I have purchased from regularly, through Amazon. This time I decided to buy directly though the company. I'm guessing the prices are lower on Amazon by force.

I'll share the data and experience in the next blog.
