Funny Partner Osaka Souvenir

Have you seen the popular Hokkaido souvenir, Shiroi Koibito?

The Hokkaido cream cookies can be bought all over Japan. I once had a classmate who bought them as omiyage every time he went on a business trip to Japan, usually in Tokyo.

We are in the process of moving to Osaka now, so last weekend when we went to look at apartments, I chose the above as omiyage for work. Osaka is known for being full of funny people and the center of Japan's comedy scene. It made perfect sense to make a joke of the famous souvenir from Hokkaido by adding one character. Instead of just white, it becomes funny or interesting.

There's also an image of Osaka Castle on the box of white chocolate cookies.

I'm a big fan of Japanese jokes and even make my own sometimes, so this 'funny partner' souvenir was perfect.

There are also gifts from Osaka that imitate popular cold medicine packaging. The packaging has titles like, "オモシロクナル" or become funny.

Some people could really use this medicine.

It was good to laugh about these when we're stressed about all the changes going on.
