Fantasy castle with genuine treasures and experiences

Chiba Castle built near but not on the site of Inohana Castle, a hilltop built in the 1100s and already defunct by the Edo era. The castle building dating from the 1960s is a generic castle-inspired modern building. But don't let that put you off a gander when you are in Chiba City. The interior of the structure houses the Chiba Folk Museum with an overview of the prefecture's history from ancient times to the present. There are excellent examples of Muromachi- and Edo-era armor, weapons, illustrated scrolls, and documents that shine light on the Chiba clan that ruled the area. The top of the keep affords views of the city and port. On the third Saturday of most months, visitors can try on kimono and armor, and in August the castle grounds host a heritage firearms demonstration. Admission is free.

    Chiba Castle

Chiba Castle nowadays is not exactly as what they call it. It is a more kind of a museum nowadays. Though the castle was originally built for guarding the domain of the ruling clan. What we see today, the Chiba Castle, is a re-construction of the original castle after it was destroyed during the earlier times in Japan. Inside the Castle turned museum are exhibits which described the earlier days in Chiba. Chiba clans' rich history and culture are presented through different ways. What I saw during my visit are artifact, samurai, traditional dress and statues that the Clan used. There are four level of exhibits where each floor displays something that are worth looking for. Though, I hope, English translation to some important details inside the castle will be displayed in the near future to further understand what is really going on with that display. The top most level is a great view where you can enjoy your eyes seeing different directions of Chiba in one place and they say that during clear days, less clod, you can even see Mt. Fuji from the top level. Chiba Castle is a place you can kill your time or enjoy a different spot in Chiba. All of these are for FREE. admission is free of charge when you visit Chiba Castle.
