Descendants of Kamakura's ginkgo trees
Kasukabe Hachimangu was established by the family that gave the city its name. The founder constructed a miniature pilgrimage - Kamakura's Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, Mt. Koya's Okunoin, and other famous destinations. A lovely time to go is in late November and early December to see the golden leaves of the ginkgo trees. In tribute to the ancient Kamakura ginkgo trees, the founder brought saplings that have flourished for centuries in front of the replica shrine. The trees are said to be power spots. The shrine is a short walk from Yagisaki Station on the Tobu Noda line.
