Handy for getting a bite to eat
As other reviews mentioned, Ecute Shinagawa is fairly compact, and mainly comprises of eating options -- there are some shopping options like a branch of Uniqlo, a book store, and a branch of the Aoyama Flower Market florists. Food-wise there are loads of choices for either quick bites or sit-down eats, so if you do have time waiting for a train at Shinagawa Station you've got options to grab some grub.

Soothing fountain, cafe patio
For a few years, I commuted through Shinagawa Station. For a break from the train, I often stopped at Ecute. A favorite spot is the water feature - a bonsai display in the middle of a basin with the water cascading over the edge. It's a nice sight and sound to soothe your nerves on the journey. Among the shops, the bakery cafe Paul has a small patio seating area. It feels like a garden retreat in the middle of the city.

Relatively small, but convenient
Ecute Shinagawa is located within the station. You pass it going from the JR Yamanote line to both the shinkansen and airport lines. It is relatively small (considering the size of the train station) but it is very convenient and has a good choice of eateries (about 12) and there are shops too.
