春日部夢の森公園 Yume no Mori Park

New park in the making

The name of the park says it all - a dream to create a forest in Kasukabe CIty, Saitama Prefecture. This park has been under development for some time. The city invites community groups to participate in planting around a small marshy pond that attracts a lot of wildlife. The park isn't much to look at just yet, but it's on its way to becoming a green space for strolling, jogging, birdwatching and picnicking. So far, some appealing points are the pond and the park building. The building has a small concession and a "free space" with tables, chairs, and free wifi looking out onto the lawn in front of the pond. I can't give it more than three stars just yet. It's on its way to becoming a great 8-hectare outdoor spot to ramble. Here's hoping the trees thrive.
