Niigata Science Museum

Inexpensive science museum in Niigata city

The Niigata Science Museum is a good spot to take kids who have an interest in how things work, dinosaurs, the solar system/space, or just as a different spot for a day out. Kids junior high aged and under get in for free on weekdays, and if you're a Niigata resident and the parent of a pre-schooler they have a deal where a parent/guardian can also get in for free (just bring your boshi techo for proof!) The museum does feel a bit 80's/90's in terms of the vibe, but it's a bunch of fun for kids with lots of hands on exhibits they can get involved with. All in all, a solid science museum with enough different rooms and exhibits to make a day out of.
