Traditional sweets
When you're strolling along Shibamata's Taishakuten Sando street, there are lots of confectionery shops to tempt you. This shop, Kameya Hompo, has seasonal sweets such as yuzu dango in winter and sakura-flavored dumplings in spring. I always get the kusadango, a specialty that's traditional in the neighborhood. There are some bench seats outside so you can rest a bit while you savor your treat. The restaurant serves set lunches which I might try on a future visit. Portions look hearty - soba, pork cutlets, and tempura.
