Permanently closed
I am very sorry to report that the Little Prince Museum closed permanently at the end of March this year (2023). It is one of several Little Prince attractions that have closed in recent years. This museum quoted lack of tourists as the main reason for their closure. It is such a shame, it was a lovely spot.

A real gem in Hakone
This museum was a surprise packet for me, since I didn't grow up with any knowledge of the Little Prince book. I loved the European feel of the grounds here, and there are also some really nice garden areas. We ate lunch at the museum's restaurant (Petit Prince Restaurant) and it was actually very good - again, I had low expectations of it and was so pleasantly surprised. I think this place is worth the visit even if you don't know much about the Little Prince book. I found it charming.

Must-visit for fans of the timeless story
This is the world's only museum dedicated to the Antoine de Saint-Exupery's timeless story of the Little Prince. Nestled away in the mountain town of Hakone, the museum is both an homage to the story and to its author, Saint-Exupery, both of which are fascinating. The museum offers patrons a chance to be transported to a small French village, with displays showcasing the events of the Little Prince story, interspersed with those of Saint-Exupery's life to show the parallels between the two. For me, it was my first time revisiting the story since I was a child, and it was a particularly moving experience seeing it all after having experienced quite a bit in life. I recommend it for adults and children alike. Standard adult tickets cost 1600 yen, students are 1100 yen, and children 5 and under are 700 yen. The museum is closed on the second Wednesday of most months (March and August are the exceptions).
