    Iwatsuki's dolls on display

Togyoku Taishokan was formerly the Nakai Bank Iwatsuki branch built in 1912. The exterior exudes Taisho period elegance with tall windows and doors. The bank building serves as an exhibition space for Iwatsuki Ward's doll manufacturing heritage. During the Ningyo Matsuri in late February and early March, visitors can take in Edo and Taisho era examples of the doll makers' art. There are also modern examples of artisanal dolls and decorations associated with Hina Matsuri. Some of the modern doll displays are quirky and funny. Take your time here to see the creativity and humour of doll aristans.
