Free Footbath plus Onsen Steaming
The longest foot bath in Japan is Hot Foot 105 (not to be confused with Hoto Moto). The onsen spring in this part of Obama Town is 105 degrees Celcius, and this foot bath is 105 meters long. You can enjoy a free foot bath with a view of the water and in the right season there will be wisteria blooming above you. At one end there's an area to steam your own food if you borrow a steam basket for 200 yen per half hour. Staff there can help you out but it's simple as long as you take care not to burn yourself with the hot steam. It's nice because you can pick out foods from the local supermarket or buy some limited things there. (5 eggs for 300 yen, corn for 300 yen, sweet potatoes, and drinks were available.) There's a little bit of seating to enjoy your steamed foods. At the opposite end of the foot bath, before the water goes into the ocean, there's a pet foot bath. We saw a little doggy enjoying a soak when we first arrived. Be sure to check this out if you're in town. Bring a small towel and shoes that are easy to slip off to enjoy the foot bath.
