Varied landscape, boat pond, and seasonal color
Chiba Park, about a 15-minute walk from Chiba Station, is 16 hectares with a variety of landscapes and elevations. It's built on the former Japanese Army 1st railway regiment, so you will see remains of training structures such as tunnels and piers. The big attractions are seasonal colors - cherry blossoms in spring, peonies in early summer, Oga lotus in June and July, autumn colors in November, and pine trees with yukitsuri (snow protection ropes) in winter. Rengei-tei exhibits lotus information and serves as a rest house with a concession. The pond has rowboats.
