Tasty Korean chain
If you enjoy Korean cuisine or you're looking for a beginner-friendly place to try it, Shijan is a good place to start. I went here with a friend I was visiting in Tokyo, and it's located at the Moritown Mall in Akishima (about 10 minutes from Yokota AB). It's apparently part of a chain, and they've got stores in a few prefectures, but this was my first time encountering them. They have various set meals including bibimbap, naengmyeon (cold noodles), tteokbokki, and more. I think the tteokbokki (rice cakes in a spicy sauce – it wasn't too spicy, though!) are good for beginners, or the jeon (Korean savory pancakes) which come in a few flavor varieties. The restaurant itself is bright and airy, it's quite new and was only opened earlier this year.
