The Only Restaurant Up in Zao

NOTE: I’ll only be reviewing the RESTAURANT and not its lodging. Forest Inn Sangoro is a place where you can lodge and have a barbeque during summer, spring, and autumn. In winter, a lot of people studying how to ski or snowboard stay here and it’s where people rest and eat after doing winter sports. It’s located in Mt. Zao and people usually go here by car when it’s not winter or they take the ropeway, especially when the mountain is already covered in snow. FOOD: We ordered the Clam Chowder serve in a bread bowl and Hamburger with onion-rings, fried potatoes, and salad. My husband really liked the Clam Chowder even though he is not a fan of that dish. The hamburger tasted okay. I prefer the onion rings though. AMBIANCE: I really like its cabin-like design; however, beware during winter at lunch time! It’s very packed because it’s the only place close to the skiing resort up in the mountains, where people can relax and eat. You need to line for 30 mins or more to order and you might not even find a seat. Moreover, you need to wait for your order to come, which can take a while as well. However, there’s a small eatery at the ropeway station, but it’s a bit far from where you do winter sports. People usually just go there when they already want to go down.
