Delicious bread, terrible service

Came late in the day, so enjoyed what was still available. The Rye flake rustic was chewy and delicious with a complimentary crispy crust. It was especially good toasted with a thin slice of cheese for breakfast. For the Rum Raisin roll bread, again the bread was delicious and flavorful, but it was lost a bit on the amount of what I think was whipped cream cheese in the roll. It was overpowering, so some of the simplicity of the bread was lost. The last offering I sampled was the basil French style small loaf bread. The bread itself, as all of the breads I sampled from this bakery, had an excellent balance of sinewy chewiness and a texture that I positively adored, but the toppings were overdone again. The basil was on-point, but there was simply far too much butter on the bread, to the point where it was dripping on the plate after taking a bite. The main critique I have for this bakery is to let there delicious breads/loaves/buns/rolls shine more rather than relying of fillings and toppings. Perhaps again because it was late in the day, the clerk/baker seemed a bit rundown and put upon to have to help customers. There is a section of baked goods behind glade which requires the staff to retrieve for you, and the staff begrudgingly accommodated us by grabbing the basil French roll I mentioned earlier. Not a sterling customer service experience. I’ll give the bakery one more try earlier in the day to see if the basics of the bakery are done better and if the service is a bit more upbeat.
