Golden Gai's friendliest bar
If you're visiting Golden Gai - one of Tokyo's most famous drinking spots - you might be wondering where exactly to go and drink. There are so many bars in a relatively small area, and some of them can be a little intimidating, with cover charges or signs saying "locals only, no foreigners!". When my friends and I visited Golden Gai, the standout bar for us was Bar Lonely. Firstly, they welcome foreigners with open arms - in fact the owner and the other few patrons in the store were excited to chat with us! Secondly, the prices of the drinks are very reasonable compared to some of the other bars in the area. Thirdly, the interior of the bar (which has maybe 8-10 seats if you're lucky) is just really cool and quirky, with lots of music memorabilia and other unique bits and pieces adorning the walls. If you're looking for a cool place for a tipple in the area, this is it. Loads of character!
