Bakery Blending Old and New
Bakery hidden in plain sight on a busy street. This bakery has an interesting fusion of old and new tastes. The bakery carries sausage rolls, cutlet sandwiches, croissants, and pizza, pretty standard bakery fare, but they also dabble in more modern tastes. Case in point, the sweet potato ciabatta rolls. The ciabatta had a crisp, firm crust with a delicious sinewy texture hiding occasional mouthfuls of soft, delicious sweet potato which brought just a hint of sweetness and was delicious as an after dinner snack or at breakfast with coffee. I recommend going early because due to its central location in the city, many people visit throughout the day, and the offerings can be pretty slim in the afternoon. The staff are extremely kind and happy to engage with customers and discuss any questions or make recommendations. The only minus is the parking situation. Again because of their central location, the parking is at a premium. There were only three parking spaces, and if you approaching from the opposite side of the street as the bakery, there was serious potential to wait for a long time or hold up traffic, but if you parked at the electronics store down the street, you could walk over, or just go down the road a bit, u-turn, and ease into one of the spaces on the same side of the road. If you enjoy the baked goods, get a member’s card for discounts down the line.
