Soft serve made with fresh milk
While I really enjoy sweets, ice cream has never been something that I've ever sought out. To me, it was always too sweet and artificial tasting to be enjoyable. At the request of my friends, I tried Kiyosato Milk Plant for their semi-famous (at least in the area) soft serve. The menu is fairly extensive. However, the different flavors aren't different flavors of soft serve. Instead, they put flavored toppings on top of a standard vanilla cream soft serve and those are the different kinds you can get. For a cup of soft serve, expect to pay 400 yen. To me, it was a bit pricey but once I tasted it, I understood. The soft serve here is made with fresh milk and cream from local cows and it really made a difference. It tasted very light and refreshing. It wasn't too sweet and the toppings complimented the ice cream without overpowering it. Seating inside is very limited. There are only two or three tables. So, I recommend grabbing a seat if you can get one. If not, there's plenty of space outside to enjoy your ice cream too. I wish there were satellite locations closer to Tokyo so I could eat here more often... But I guess nothing would taste as fresh.
