Modern museum of antique and contemporary dolls

The Iwatsuki Ningyo Museum, Japan's only publicly owned doll museum, opened in 2020. The doll museum is located a short walk east of Iwatsuki Station where most of the town's doll showrooms are located. The museum has three galleries. The displays reveal the history of doll making in the district and house the rotating collection of dolls and related items and a gallery for special exhibitions. It's not a huge museum, but it's accessible to non-Japanese-speaking visitors. The museum provides English and Japanese language guidance on their website indicated by QR codes at the galleries. Before you go, check to confirm special exhibitions so you can make the most of your visit. When I went, the third gallery was closed.
