Village shrine with elaborate carvings
This small Katori shrine in a bamboo thicket was established in the 1700s and the structure dates from the 1830s. It's surrounded by a bamboo thicket located a few minutes from the recently restored Someya Family Residence. The shrine is protected by a roof and wire mesh, but you can get a good look at the intricate carvings of dragons climbing the pillars. It's a tiny place with no parking. I accessed it by bicycle while touring the former Shonan Town villages (now part of Kashiwa City).
