Gelateria with a mix of traditional and modern
This Gelateria has a mix of local flavor like the Echigo Hime Strawberry Sorbet (which was amazing), or the Junkissa pudding (純喫茶プリン), and some of richer, decadent choices like a creamy chocolate which I have vowed to try on my next visit. Like most takes on gelato, the finish of the sorbet and cherry blossom + ruby chocolate was light and refreshing while still preserving the delicious creaminess that one expects from gelato. The strawberry sorbet has just a hint of tanginess from early season harvested strawberries which speaks to the freshness and ‘buy local’ atmosphere of the shop. The staff was kind and made a few recommendations without hard selling me anything which I very much appreciated, and the staff made sure that my take home treasures would make it still cold offering some dry ice, a small plastic bag, and a simple paper bag for carrying out. There is a small, cozy section of seating inside the Gelateria or you can enjoy eating in the breezeway just outside or the shared area linking the store with the cafe and vintage clothing store in the same complex.
